iHeartMedia Honolulu is remembering longtime broadcaster "Coach" Larry Price, who died Friday in Honolulu. He was a longtime co-host of the "Perry & Price Show" on KSSK 92.3 FM and 590 AM and retired in May 2016 after more than three decades on the air.
Price spent over 30 years alongside Michael W. Perry as part of what became Honolulu's top-rated morning program. The station said the show remained a dominant force in the market and among Adult Contemporary morning shows nationwide.
KSSK plans to honor Price with a series of tributes, including "best of" broadcasts from the HanoHano Room, archival clips, and shared memories from staff. Listeners are also being invited to submit remembrances using the Talkback feature on the iHeartRadio app, with selected messages to air during Monday's "Perry & The Posse."
In a statement, Perry reflected on their longtime partnership, calling Price "the most intelligent, hilarious, fearless, outspoken, thoughtful, generous, motivational man I ever met," and added that it was an honor to work alongside him for 33 years.
iHeartMedia Honolulu Market President Scott Hogle described Price as both a legend and a friend, noting his lifelong commitment to others. Senior Vice President of Programming Jamie Hyatt said Price's personality "entertained generations of Hawai'i listeners," while longtime producer Sweetie Pacarro called him a mentor whose influence will endure.
