Former Kansas City radio executive Dave Alpert, who led local stations under Audacy during its earlier years as Entercom, has died following a battle with cancer. He was believed to be 66.
Alpert served as Senior Vice President and Market Manager for the company's Kansas City cluster, a role he held from 2007 until his departure in October 2020. He first arrived in the market in 2003 as head of Susquehanna Radio's Kansas City station group.
During his tenure, Alpert oversaw significant operational and programming efforts across the cluster and became a well-known figure in the market's radio industry. Following Entercom's merger with CBS Radio in 2017, he was elevated to Regional President, supervising stations in multiple markets including Indianapolis, Madison, Milwaukee, St. Louis and Wichita. That role continued until a company realignment in 2020.
Before and during his time in Kansas City, Alpert also held management positions with Cumulus Media and served as General Manager for stations in Fort Myers, Greenville, Nashville and Sarasota, Florida.
Colleagues across the radio industry are remembering Alpert for his leadership and long tenure in broadcast radio.
