Radio One Houston's KKBQ-HD2 has temporarily rebranded its Classic Country outlet as "Pasadena Rodeo Radio" in advance of the 77th Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo, scheduled for September 18-26. The station made the switch yesterday at 5pm and will continue operating under the special branding for the next two months while maintaining its Classic Country format featuring artists and songs from the 1930s through the 1990s.
As part of the promotion, Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo Executive Board Vice President Bear Hebert has joined the station as its imaging voice. Hebert will also narrate public service features airing twice each hour that highlight the rodeo's concerts, events, scholarship program, community impact and overall mission.
"This is a very special and unique radio station," said Travis Moon, Director of Operations for Radio One Houston and Program Director of KKBQ and Rodeo Radio. "Celebrating seven decades of country music allows us to tell the story of one of America's richest musical traditions. Connecting that history with the 77-year legacy of the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo is a perfect fit, and we're excited to help shine a spotlight on everything the organization means to the community."
