Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters Buys KIDD/Monterey

Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters, headed by Saul Levine (pictured) has agreed to acquire heritage 1kw KIDD-AM/Monterey-Salinas, the last entity of Buckley Radio to be divested. KIDD covers all of the Central Coast based on the coverage characteristics of the low end of the AM Band. KIDD is presently silent due to the erosion of the two radio towers located near Monterey Bay, which were recently demolished as a safety measure. Mount Wilson FM plans to construct a new transmitting facility.

As the last radio station to be sold by Buckley Radio, buyer Saul Levine said, "In 1993 I closed on KGIL from the Buckley family. Rick Buckley came to my office for the closing. What a classy and dynamic person. It took only moments to close. No hassles. Joseph Bilotta is equally classy and dynamic."

This is the fifth radio facility to be acquired by Mount Wilson FM in the Monterey market in the last two years. The others were KYZZ-FM, KMZT-FM, KNRY-AM, and KBOQ-FM. Also 106.7 repeats the Country programming of KYZZ for the Peninsula, and KMZT is rebroadcast on KMZT-FM/Big Sur.

The transaction was handled by Dick Foreman on behalf of Buckley, and Saul Levine, President of Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters.
