John Bridge's Windy City Broadcasting has sold FM translator K244EX (96.7) in Las Vegas to the Farmworker Radio Educational Network -- owners of co-channel KYLI-FM in Bunkerville, NV, serving Las Vegas as Regional Mexican "La Campesina." The purchase price is $400,000 which represents a major gain for Bridge who paid $25,000 for the translator in early 2015.
USA Radio Networks CEO Fred Weinberg, who is familiar with the deal, noted that the transaction will allow KYLI to significantly expand its coverage in the Las Vegas market. Farmworker Radio Educational Network is expected to relocate the translator to a new transmitter site at a greater height, and simulcast the main KYLI signal through an HD3 side channel.
Prior to the sale and from its current location, K244EX operated on a signal booster and covered only approximately 56 percent of the Las Vegas market.
