RADIO ONLINE | Friday, January 30, 2015 |
News/Talk WHTC-AM/Holland, MI, hires long-time area broadcaster Mary Ellen Murphy as morning news anchor. She brings over 30 years of broadcasting experience to the station. Her career has included stops in Grand Rapids and Muskegon doing news and on-air work. Murphy has also worked in Seattle, Sacramento and Detroit.
Brand Manager Dan Spadafora said, "She's an absolute pro. Mary Ellen has experience and passion that is going to push WHTC to a place it has never been to before. I'm still a little shocked no one grabbed her before we did, but I'm glad she landed in Holland. I think listeners are going to find a true personal connection listening to Mary Ellen every morning."
Murphy added, "I'm happy to be back in the airwaves and at such a staple in Holland. It's no secret I love the beach and the shoes too. It's a perfect fit once I get my wooden shoes. Being in the radio has never been about me...it's about you the listener and I look forward to making that connection on and off the air."
News Director Gary Stevens will move to afternoons and will also host the WHTC Daily Recap which airs at 5pm.
