Cumulus Media has named radio programming veteran Jimmy Steele as Program Director for the Gulf Coast's hit music station, 97.5 WABD-FM, in Mobile, AL. Steele will continue in his current roles as Operations Manager, Cumulus Media-Mobile, and Midday On-Air Personality for WABD. He also serves Cumulus Media-Mobile as Program Director of WXQW-AM. He takes the WABD programming reins from Sid Kelly, who moves to Cumulus Media-Indianapolis as Program Director of WYRG.
Steele has over 30 years' experience as a radio programming professional, and joined Cumulus last June. He has programmed for several iHeart stations including in San Diego and served Saga Communications in Columbus, OH, as Operations Director/Brand Manager.
Cumulus Media/Mobile VP/Market Manager Don Boyd said, "I am very happy to see Sid Kelly grow within the Cumulus family as he takes on a new challenge in Indianapolis. We are fortunate to have deep talent here at Cumulus Mobile with one of the country's top CHR programmers, Jimmy Steele, already in the building. I could not be more excited for the future of WABD under Jimmy's direct leadership as he continues to evolve this legendary radio station."
Steele said, "I'm so proud of the growth we've seen on WABD over the past year under Sid Kelly's leadership. I'm pleased to see Sid grow his career within Cumulus and am excited to roll up my sleeves and splash back into my CHR roots. It's an honor to be able to come to work each day and serve our talented Cumulus Mobile team as a partner to VP/Market Manager Don Boyd and collaborate with the likes of corporate programmers Doug Hamand and Mike McVay. They are very supportive and for that, I am grateful."
