Longtime Milwaukee air personality Marilynn Mee exits middays at Classic Rock WKLH-FM after her post was eliminated, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Mee began her career in Milwaukee radio as News Director and morning co-host for WQFM-FM (93.3) in the 1980s. She was with Rock WLZR (Lazer 103) from its inception in 1987, serving as midday host, and beginning in 1998, Music Director. When Lazer was rebranded as "102.9 The Hog" in 2005, Mee moved over to middays at WKLH.
"I will miss my wonderful KLH listeners more than words can say," Mee wrote on Facebook. "Whatever my future holds, I promise to continue to be a voice for animals & animal shelters/rescues, love music and live my life with compassion and kindness."
"To protect the privacy of our employees we do not discuss internal matters, suffice to say this year has presented unprecedented challenges," Milwaukee Radio Group VP/GM Bob Bellini, wrote in a statement to the Journal Sentinel. "We extend our deepest thanks and appreciation for Marilynn's contributions to her listeners and the Milwaukee Radio Group over the years."
In July, Mee was inducted into the Wisconsin Area Music Industry's inaugural Wall of Fame class, a new recognition highlighting music industry veterans in the state who are not musicians themselves.
