103.1 iHeartAustin Pop-Up Outlet Becomes Permanent


Clear Channel/Austin announced Friday that its "pop-up" radio station, 103.1 iHeartAustin (K276EL-FM), originally set to only broadcast throughout the SXSW 2013 festival, will continue its broadcast, displacing a sports format. 103.1 iHeartAustin debuted March 7 with the purpose of giving listeners the latest music and news straight from the SXSW 2013 festival. CCME says it will continue to provide Austin listeners access to emerging artists and music.

Brands, bands, artists and other industry members gathered in Austin during SXSW to get a glimpse of the latest trends in music, technology and other creative arts. 103.1 iHeartAustin will continue to celebrate the Austin music scene with in-depth looks back at the bands and artists that broke into the music industry at Austin's live music events and festivals. The station will feature performances, exclusive interviews and regular music news coverage throughout the year.

"Austin is 'The Live Music Capital of the World' and throughout the year people from all over the world come to Austin to discover new music," said Senior VP/Programming Brad Hardin. "103.1 iHeartAustin provides a variety of emerging music to our listeners and by keeping this format thriving, it will help to keep the spirit of the Austin music festivals alive 24 hours a day, seven days a week."
