CBS Radio's All News KYW-AM/Philadelphia reporter Michelle Durham has been named a 2014 recipient of the Chapel of Four Chaplains, "Legion of Honor Humanitarian Award." The honors ceremony will take place on Sunday, July 13 at The Chapel of Four Chaplains in The Navy Yard in Philadelphia. The Chapel of Four Chaplains is a non-profit organization that encourages the recognition of selfless service among all people through the Legion of Honor Award Program.
The inspiration for the Chapel's program comes from the courageous acts of the four Army Chaplains who gave up their life jackets onboard the USAT Dorchester when it was sunk in the North Atlantic on February 3, 1943. The service being recognized must be above and beyond that required by a professional or an organizational position. The Chapel looks for ordinary people who perform extraordinary things that demonstrate selfless service and the "Unity of our Nation without Uniformity".
"This is such an incredible honor, as I am humbled by the history of The Four Chaplains and their incredible self sacrifice," said Durham after learning of her selection. "I plan to continue my personal quest to follow that same path."
Durham is one of the honorees to be presented with an award on Sunday, but she is the only one receiving the Humanitarian Award.
