Woman Wins Privacy Suit Against KRBZ/Kansas City

A woman who sued Entercom's Alternative KRBZ-FM (96.5 the Buzz)/Kansas City over being called a porn star has been awarded at least $250,000 in damages, reports KSHB-TV. Ashley Patton sued The Buzz and hosts Afentra (Bandokoudis) and Danny Boi (Daniel Terreros) of "Afentra's Big Fat Morning Buzz" (pictured) for invasion of privacy and negligent supervision. KSHB also reports that a hearing has begun to decide punitive damages in the case.

Patton filed suit after an April, 2012, broadcast in which Afentra and Danny Boi asked listeners to send in the names of local residents who "were said to be local porn stars." According to the suit, two listeners texted Patton's name and during a Google search, Danny Boi found an adult film actress with a similar, but distinctly different name. Even so, they announced Patton's name and high school on-air, while joking about her.

Unfortunately, for the morning duo, the texter misspelled the name of porn star "Ashley Payton." After Patton, a law student at the University Of Kansas School of Law, found out about the on-air bit, she phoned PD Scott Geiger. He asked her if she was a porn star. She denied it, and he then allegedly changed the spelling of the name on The Buzz's website, while removing a podcast version.
