Univision Local Media New York has announced the launch of a new format for 92.7 WQBU-FM. Formerly known as Univision America New York, the new "92.7 FM Nueva York" will feature a music-intensive lineup with a focus on Regional Mexican hits. The station will air two of Univision's most acclaimed radio shows "El Show de Raul Brindis" from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and "El Bueno, La Mala y El Feo" (The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.
The change comes on the heels of extensive research in the NY-DMA, where the Mexican population has increased by 62% since 2000, and listeners have expressed a strong interest in the Regional Mexican format.
"Our mission is to give audiences what they want and we heard them loud and clear," said Jose Valle, president of Univision Radio. "We are now bringing the best Regional Mexican music along with our top two morning shows from across the country to our audience in New York."
"92.7 FM Nueva York" will target Adults 18-49, complementing Univision Radio's other two New York stations, X96.3 and WADO 1280AM. Listeners can engage with the station via the Uforia app and through social media platforms.
