3 Horizon's News/Talk KWLZ-FM moves into Portland, OR, becoming the market's newest Classic Hits outlet as "96.3 KWLZ" with slogan "Rock & Roll's Greatest Hits." The station, consulted by programming veteran Jay Kelly, signed on at 12pm Friday and is playing 25,000 songs in a row as part of its launch. KWLZ-FM is licensed to West Linn, relocating from Warm Springs to the Portland metro with 100kw full market signal.
The move to 100kw after an 11-year project that the included the frequency reassignment of seven radio stations in Oregon and the relocation of KXXO-FM to a new tower site at Capitol Peak in Olympia, WA. KWLZ-FM transmits from the Stonehenge Tower facility in Portland, OR.
