Univision/Chicago has announced a partnership with DePaul University to launch "La Hora Picante," a one-hour radio program on Univision America, Univision's full service radio format. The show will air locally on WRTO, Saturdays at 8am. Piloted by Radio DePaul, the program will air from their Lincoln Park studios. "La Hora Picante" will be hosted by students Samantha Rivera, Alondra Valle and Giovanni Hernandez in both English and Spanish-language.
The pilot program is a first of its kind and will incorporate WGBO-TV's local news gathering operation to provide guidance to student broadcasters as they explore a variety of topical news stories and current events from the perspectives of bilingual millennial hosts.
"We are very excited to be partnering with Radio DePaul on this project because it provides a platform for young bilingual Hispanic journalists to have a voice on the Chicago airwaves," said Univision Chicago Senior VP/GM Doug Levy. "We look forward to watching these 'billennials' develop their skills and share their perspective with our community."
