MBA Radio Talent Institute Begins at Northwest Missouri State

Zimmer Radio and Marketing Group President John Zimmer, takes the opening session on Monday as students from nine universities attend the 3rd annual MBA Radio Talent Institute at Northwest Missouri State University. He'll be joined by over 30 broadcasters from the state and region for the next ten days, including Kansas City Chiefs Play-by-Play announcer Mitch Holthus, who'll be talking about sports broadcasting. Students will also visit the Entercom studios in Kansas City, where Regional and Market President Dave Alpert, and the sports broadcasters of KCSP (610 Sports) will talk with the students.
Alpha Media Omaha Regional President George Pelletier, Eagle Communications/St Joseph General Manager Doug Schmitz, Mid-West Family Broadcasting Springfield General Manager Scott Meier and others lead sales sessions as each student becomes certified as Radio Marketing Professionals by the RAB.
Programming and on-air sessions are led by iHeartMedia/St Louis Senior VP of Programming Jules Riley, 99.7 The Point/Kansas City Program Director Leigh McNabb, KMBZ/Kansas City Program Director Alan Furst, Hubbard Radio St. Louis Brand Content Director Scott Roddy and KCMO/Kansas City Assistant PD Pete Mundo, along with other programmers and air talent. Cumulus/Kansas City Midwest Regional VP Donna Baker will deliver the closing session ten days from now.
Mark Gordon, President of the Missouri Broadcasters Association, stated "We are pleased to bring this program, taught by industry professionals, to Missouri, which will help fill job openings at broadcast stations with quality employees who have a true understanding of how fun and rewarding a career in our industry can be."
The MBA Radio Talent Institute is the final Institute of the National Radio Talent System this summer. The concept, with Radio Talent Institutes now in 8 states, is the first program of its kind in the world and has the broadcast profession, the universities, and the National Radio Talent System working together to discover, teach and develop students to bring fresh talent into the industry today to prepare the next generation of broadcast leaders for tomorrow.
