Urban WDMK-FM (105.9 Kiss FM)/Detroit's Mildred Gaddis won a "Broadcast Excellence Award" in the "Community Involvement" category for her efforts in providing critical needs for the homeless population. The presentation took place during the annual Michigan Association of Broadcasters event Saturday, April 29 at The Sound Board in downtown Detroit. The awards gala was hosted by 105.9 Kiss FM personality Mason of the Mason and Starr Morning Show.
Currently in its 8th year, "Sleeping Bags for the Homeless" has provided much needed protection from the harsh Midwest winters to those in our community needing it the most.
"In 2015 Mildred attacked the issue of unacceptable rates of homelessness in the Detroit area by creating a program bringing hundreds of warm, durable sleeping bags to the most vulnerable citizens in our community," said Beasley Media Group VPof National Content and Director of Detroit Programming Scott Jameson. "Beasley Media Group, along with the UAW and the Detroit Community Fund, continue to build upon the success of this terrific program. Mildreds's passion of leading the charge in helping others and enacting change is an example of the power local radio delivers."
Other Beasley Media Group Detroit winners included WRIF-FM for "Morning Show Category" and WCSX-FM for "Marketing Materials & Promos Category," who both received Merit Awards.
