With the August Congressional recess in Congress, Salem Radio Network's syndicated talk hosts have voiced -- and are distributing to affiliates -- Public Service Announcements rallying listeners to reach out to their U.S. Senators and Congressman to support the AM Radio For Every Vehicle Act, Senate Bill 1669, stopping automakers from removing the AM band from new models they are manufacturing.
SRN talkers Mike Gallagher, Charlie Kirk, Sebastian Gorka, Hugh Hewitt, Brandon Tatum and Dennis Prager note that the Senate Commerce Committee recently approved the legislation and moved-it-on for a vote in the full Senate. It also faces action in the U.S. House. The PSA's urge listeners to address the need to protect AM when their Senator or Congressman visits their community during this month's recess.
"This action is one way the 80-million people who depend on AM radio for news, critical weather updates and vigorous debate on issues can peacefully and patriotically approach their lawmakers directly to share their views," stated SRN VP/News & Talk Programming Tom Tradup.
"We even have a Spanish-language version of our PSA for stations serving Hispanic listeners nationwide."
The PSA's are free of any commercial content, and are tagged with a way listeners can text their support to the NAB. Any station -- whether affiliated with Salem or not -- can request free mp3's by e-mailing jbligh@srnradio.com
