Scott Childers, a veteran broadcaster with over three decades in the radio industry, has embarked on a new chapter in his career as the Operations Coordinator for Jazz 90.9 WDCB in Chicago. Childers, who was previously with WLS-AM in various capacities including fill-in news anchor, reporter, and substitute talk host, is transitioning from his recent temporary roles to a more permanent position at WDCB.
Childers' move comes after a brief stint as Chief Engineer at Alpha Media in Chicago, a role from which he was released last February. Despite the setback, he continued to make significant contributions to the industry, particularly through his involvement in WLS-AM's 100th Anniversary programming. While he has indicated a willingness to continue filling in as needed, his primary focus now is his new role at WDCB.
At 90.9 WDCB, Childers will work closely with Program Director Dan Bindert and aims to leverage his experience to enhance station operations. The station, known for its rich jazz offerings and for hosting the iconic radio show "Those Were The Days," is celebrating its 55th anniversary this year. Childers expressed his excitement about joining a team that not only values musical heritage but also includes many talented musicians among its staff.
Childers' background in the industry, includes his prior roles at WSSR-FM and WNND-FM, and his technical expertise in station imaging and FCC compliance, are expected to significantly contribute to his success in his new position at WDCB.
