Longtime Pittsburgh air talent and conservative radio host Jim Quinn died on Sunday, reports wtae.com. He was 82. Quinn, originally from New Jersey, made his mark in the Steel City where he began his broadcasting career. Starting in the 1960s at KQV and later at WTAE in the late 1970s, Quinn became a familiar voice in Pittsburgh. He rose to local fame as one half of "The Quinn and Banana Show," a morning show on B-94.

Voiceover talent Ed Weigle, known for his work with WWE radio spots, recalled Quinn's significant impact on Pittsburgh radio in a Facebook post on Sunday. "He was certainly a radio force back home in Pittsburgh when I was a kid," Weigle shared.

Quinn's early days at KQV in 1967 were notable not only for his developing career but also for his acquaintance with Rush Limbaugh, who would become a mentor and fellow prominent conservative voice. After spending some time in Philadelphia and New York, Quinn returned to Pittsburgh to join WKTQ (13Q).

Among his creative ventures was the parody record "Undercover Pothole," which humorously addressed the notorious condition of Pittsburgh's roads. From 1983 to 1992, Quinn was a staple on the airwaves alongside DJ Don Jefferson in the "Quinn and Banana" duo.

Following his exit from mainstream radio, Quinn transitioned to WRRK, where he refined his conservative viewpoints and reshaped them into a successful talk format. His show eventually moved to WPGB in 2004 where her paired with Rose Tennant at a WPGB-FM 104.7, in command of "The War Room" for nearly a decade.

In his later years, Quinn continued to engage audiences with "Quinn in the Morning" on WAVL, staying active in broadcasting until his passing. His contribution to radio and the conservative dialogue in Pittsburgh leaves a lasting legacy that resonates with many who grew up listening to his distinctive voice and discussions.
