Doug Montgomery to Retire from Townsquare Media

Doug Montgomery, Townsquare Media's Vice President of Country Content and Programming, has announced his retirement, effective July 31. Montgomery joined Townsquare in 2016 as Director of Content for the company's Grand Rapids, MI cluster, where he also began overseeing the company's Country programming. In February 2022, he was elevated to his current role as Vice President.

"I have been extremely blessed to spend my whole adult life getting to do what I dreamed of as a kid - be the guy who picks the songs on the radio and entertains listeners every day," Montgomery said. "From my first overnight shift at WJPD in Ishpeming, Michigan, I knew Country Radio was the avenue I wanted to pursue. Being a part of Country Music going to great heights throughout my career has been a great thrill. I am fortunate. Townsquare has an amazing team, so leaving was a tough decision. But I'm excited to finally have the opportunity for new personal experiences. I'll be spending less time with family and more time in Vegas."

Prior to joining Townsquare, Montgomery spent over 20 years with iHeartMedia and its predecessor, Clear Channel, where he programmed WBCT (B93) in Grand Rapids and played a key role as the original programmer for iHeart's Country Premium Choice initiative.

"Doug is second to none," said Townsquare SVP/Content and Programming Kurt Johnson. "He's been an influential programmer for decades, and we've been very fortunate to have him lead our Country team for eight years. His impact in building Townsquare Country's success will leave a legacy. We'll miss him a lot, but we're happy for him at the same time."
