Midday Tops U.S. Podcast Listening, Edison Reports

Edison Research has released a preview of new Share of Ear data revealing when Americans spend the most time with podcasts. According to findings from the upcoming Q3 2025 report, Americans age 13 and older now spend 10% of their total daily audio time listening to podcasts.

The greatest share of podcast listening occurs between 10am and 2pm, which accounts for 29% of all daily podcast consumption. The early morning hours of 6am to 10am follow closely with 24%, while 2pm to 6pm captures another 21% of total listening.

Podcast engagement tapers off later in the day, though 11% of listening still takes place between 10pm and 2am, and another 3% occurs during the overnight hours of 2am to 6am -- underscoring that podcast audiences extend well beyond the traditional workday.

Edison Research's Share of Ear study measures how Americans spend their time with all forms of audio, including AM/FM radio, streaming music, and podcasts. Full Q3 2025 data will be released to subscribers early next week.
