Bustos Media is expanding its footprint in the Puget Sound area with the acquisition of AC outlet KXXO (Mixx 96.1) serving Olympia-Tacoma, WA, from 3 Cities Inc., owned by David Rauh and Toni Holm, for $1.5 million.
The company will assume operations on Monday, October 27, when KXXO will flip from its longtime AC format to Spanish AC as "X96.1." The station, a Class C facility with 37kW at 717 meters, serves the southern Puget Sound region, reaching Tacoma and portions of the Seattle metro.
"This is the first time we are introducing a Latin-Pop format with some bilingual elements," said Amador Bustos, President and CEO. He added, "Given the diversity of its Hispanic population, Seattle is the perfect metropolitan area to do a format with a wider contemporary sound. It includes music primarily from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Argentina, and Spain. Many of the Latin artists are also doing amazing collaborations with their US counterparts with Urban, Pop, and country sounds."
The acquisition adds a fifth property to the company's Seattle-Tacoma cluster, joining Regional Mexican KDDS-FM (99.3 La Gran D) in Elma, KZTM (102.9 La Zeta) in McKenna, KZNW (103.3) in Oak Harbor, and brokered Spanish Christian KMIA (Amor 1210) in Auburn-Federal Way.
