Univision Q1 Revenue Up 10.6%, Radio Down 3%
Univision Communications posted a 10.6% gain in first quarter net revenue to $453.7 million compared to from $410.3 million in 2009. The company's radio unit saw revenue decline of 3% to $64.3 million from $66.5 million. The Spanish-language broadcaster reported a net loss of $3.4 million as compared to a loss of $55.2 million in the year-ago period.
"We have continued to see a recovery in the advertising market in the first quarter and are expecting to benefit from the upswing due to a heightened interest in reaching our target demographic," said President/CEO Joe Uva. "Our first quarter results continue to prove that Univision's leading television, radio, and interactive platforms are the undisputed first choice in reaching the rapidly growing U.S. Hispanic consumer group."
The company's television revenue grew 11.5% to $380.1 million from $336.3 million, while its interactive revenue was up by 19.4% to $9.3 million from $7.5 million. Combined visits to its online and mobile web sites climbed 28%. (05-07-10)
