Charlotte-based Norsan Multimedia has agreed to acquire control of Classic Country WIST-FM (98.3) and WBLO-AM (790)/Greensboro-Winston Salem from GHB Broadcasting. The Spanish-language network has inked a Local Marketing Agreement (LMA) to operate the duo with an option to buy. The deal increases the company's station count to 12 including stations in Charlotte, Columbia, Jacksonville and Knoxville.
Norsan President Norberto Sanchez told the Charlotte Observer that WIST-FM will probably flip to a Regional Mexican format as "La Raza." WBLO will remain an English-language Sports outlet. Additionally, WIST will become an affiliate of Norsan's Spanish broadcasts of the NFL Carolina Panthers.
