The FCC's Media Bureau has granted an extension until November 21 for Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio Holdings to implement their voluntary commitment to provide long-term leases to qualified entities that includes up to four percent of fulltime audio channels.
In July, 2008, the Commission approved the transfer of XM to Sirius Radio , which is subject to the combined companies fulfillment of the leasing condition. The Bureau anticipates Commission action on the implementation guidelines in the near future, and the FCC ruled that the brief extension is appropriate.
