RTDNA Study Shows Radio Newsroom Salaries Flat
According to a Radio-Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and Hofstra University survey of radio newsrooms, salaries were flat in 2009 following a 1.8% decline in 2008. News directors, reporters, producers and sports reporters' salaries were up slightly, while news and sports anchor salaries were down somewhat.
"With negative inflation in 2009, even flat salaries mean no loss in buying power," said Hofstra journalism professor Bob Pepper, who conducted the survey. This compared to a 5.6% decline for radio in 2008. (08-26-10)
