Americans Listen to Radio 14.6B Hours Each Month

With an ever-growing number of media choices, Americans' preference for and reliance on radio continues to endure year after year. In the latest Radio Today by the Numbers, Arbitron's quarterly highlight of consumers radio usage, found that 93% of everyone in the U.S. listens to radio each week and that Americans listen to a whopping 14.6 billion hours each month. 90% of Americans listen to radio between 6am and 7pm each week.
As the past four quarters demonstrate, radio listening remains strong and consistent. Every week across America, radio is heard by 94% of Adults 18-34, 95% of Adults 18-49, 95% of Adults 25-54 and 95% of Adults 35-64. The report also shows that radio reaches millions of multicultural listeners inclduing 95% of all Hispanics and 93% of all African Americans.
70% of Americans tune into radio each day for two hours and forty minutes. And every week radio reaches 91% of registered voters, 91% of those who sometime vite in local elections and 92% of adults who always or sometimes vote in state elections.
