Alternative KYSR-FM (98-7fm)/Los Angeles Program Director Julie Pilat promotes Darren Rose (near right) to Assistant PD. He previously served as the station's programming coordinator and producer of "Music in the mornings with Kennedy." Concurrently, afternoon personality Josh Venable was named Music Director.
Both have been with 98-7fm since the station flipped to Alternative in January of 2008. Each will continue their on-air responsibilities to their morning and afternoon drive programs respectively.
"Josh Venable has so much experience in the music industry and in this format specifically," stated Pilat. "He started at KDGE in Dallas and has a legit talent for finding 'the next big thing' and developing artists through specialty programming. Not only does he host 98-7fm's New Music Show on Sunday Nights, but for over a decade he's been the brains, instinct and personality behind 'The Adventure Club,' a show known for helping break some of the best artists around like Weezer, Oasis, and Coldplay."
Pilat continued, "Darren's contribution to the station has been and will continue to be invaluable. Not only does he know and have passion for music and the format, but he has a head for marketing, sales and promotions as well. He's a team player with a firm understanding of what's needed to assist me in running the 98-7fm Programming Department."
