ESPN Deportes Radio Expands Coverage in Florida

ESPN said Wednesday that ESPN Deportes Radio, a 24/7 Spanish-language radio network covering sports, will launch in Tampa as "ESPN Deportes WAMA" and Orlando as "ESPN Deportes WAMT" this week. With these agreements, ESPN Deportes Radio is now available in four major Hispanic cities in Florida, including WOCN-AM/Miami, WJNX-AM/West Palm Beach and now on WAMA-AM/Orlando and WAMT-AM/Tampa.

"The Hispanics in the Orlando and Tampa markets are passionate about sports and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring them the best of sports radio, as well as be the first and only Spanish-language all sports station in these cities," said ESPN Deportes Radio Senior Director/GM Oscar Ramos. "These agreements reinforce our commitment to continued growth of the radio network among the top Hispanic markets across the country."

"We are excited to welcome ESPN Deportes Radio to our multimedia platform which includes Telemundo Tampa, and our new web portal holaciudad!" said WAMA GM Jayme Ribeiro Neto. "The launch of ESPN Deportes Radio in Tampa offers our local community the latest in sports news and information, and provides advertisers and marketers a unique opportunity to reach Hispanics in these communities."

"Having the ESPN brand in Tampa and Orlando over the last several years has proven to be a great success for our company," said Genesis Communications CEO Bruce Maduri. "We are very excited for our ESPN Deportes' Radio partnership in Orlando and we are certain this deal will be a great benefit to our advertisers and listeners, especially with the recent marriage of the local Wide World of Sports with ESPN."

With this new affiliate, ESPN Deportes Radio now has 39 affiliates nationwide and reach of 48 percent of Hispanic population in the U.S.
