18-year station vet Curtis Sliwa, one of the most well-known voices in New York, is leaving WABC-AM. Starting Monday, November 30, syndicated John Batchelor will begin hosting the 9pm-1am slot on week nights from his flagship outlet. Sliwa is leaving WABC after he and the Talk outlet were not able to agree on a new contract extension.
Concerning reports that he is talking with crosstown WNYM-AM (The Apple), Sliwa told the New York Daily News story that "nothing is signed." He will continue to air nightly from the WABC studios to the affiliate stations that carry his program.
Sliwa has hosted every shift on WABC, including mornings with his ex-wife, Lisa.
