Truth Broadcasting Corp. has closed on its acquisition of Sports WTIX-AM (980)/Greensboro from GHB Radio for $400,000. With the ownership change, the station flips to Spanish-language Christian programming with new call letters to WEGO-AM. The new programming is a mix of local and nationally syndicated programs.
"There's an exploding Hispanic population here in Winston-Salem," said Truth Broadcasting President/GM Stuart Epperson Jr. "Some people are critical of immigrants, but we wanted to reach out to them and show them the love of God."
Truth Broadcasting, based in Greensboro, now owns nine Christian radio outlets in Greensboro, Raleigh, Charlotte, Utah and Virginia.
