Sirius XM satellite radio personality responded to last week's press reports on Monday that he's may return to federally regulated broadcast radio. "I'm not contemplating it," Stern told listeners. "I don't want to be censored." Stern's current $100 million a year deal is set to expire in December.
The Stern rumors began to fly last week when he told his audience that he had been approached with a variety of different ways to return to broadcast radio. Even Clear Channel Radio CEO John Hogan jumped into the fray, saying that he wouldn't rule out working with Stern again and that Clear Channel is a logical fit. "We would be the most logical company for him to optimize his exposure and financial return," Hogan told Bloomberg.
"Just because I said people call me from time to time doesn't mean I'm actually going back," Stern added. "I just said a lot of people called. I'm not contemplating it."
