WZGV-AM (730 The Groove) launched in Charlotte on Monday airing Classic Hits from the '60s, '70s and '80s. The new station replaces WOHS, which went dark in April, 2009. The line-up includes Ken Conrad in morning drive, Liz Luke in middays and Glenn Trent in afternoon drive. Core artists include the likes of the Cars, Rare Earth and the Beatles.
"Charlotte's going to find out what old-time radio is all about -- again," said morning host Ken Conrad.
The new format should work well on AM radio, particularly for the crowd over 35 that remembers when AM was king, added GM Lanny Ford.
