Michael Irvin is out at Sports KESN-FM (ESPN 103.3)/Dallas following news that a civil lawsuit was filed in Fort Lauderdale against him alleging a rape in 2007. Ben & Skin replace Irvin, whose show "was not performing," said ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz. "We had previously determined to end the show."
The Miami Herald reports the civil suit filed by an unidentified woman, claims that Irvin raped her in a room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in the overnight hours of July 4-5, 2007. Irvin is denying the allegations, which his attorney says are "totally untrue."
The alleged incident was reported to the Seminole, FL, police some two weeks after it happened, and the investigation was inconclusive. The Herald says the woman and Irvin's attorney previously met to reach a settlement, and that Irvin's lawyer called "attempts at extortion."
Irvin's other employer, NFL Network, has not yet decided if Irvin would continue his duties.
