A district judge has rejected a request for a temporary injunction against BizRadio, clearing the way for it to return to the airwaves on KTEK-AM (1110)/Houston, reports the Houston Chronicle. BizRadio had left the station to air on Entravision's fulltime signal outlet KGOL-AM (1180). Asia Vision had been airing its brokered ethnic programming on KTEK, which is owned by a BizRadio affiliate.
The newspaper says that Siddiqi paid $180,000 to various BizRadio-related entities to lease the station for six months after BizRadio moved to 1180 AM. Last week, BizRadio founder Daniel Frishberg told Siddiqi BizRadio it was moving back to KTEK and that the deal Siddiqi had struck to air programming on KTEK was invalid.
The deal was negotiated on BizRadio's behalf by Ronald Crider, who signed the documents at its CEO. Frishberg said Crider was never an employee and had no authorization to do such a deal. Frishberg said he never authorized the deal and didn't know about the terms of the contract, which would have sold the station for $3.5 million.
"These investors have stayed with us, and they believe in us," Frishberg said after the hearing. "I manage hundreds of millions of dollars for these people. They know I'm not a fake."
