CBS Radio's WCBS-AM (Newsradio 880)/New York signs a multi-year deal with Univision Radio's crosstown Spanish News/Talk for Spanish-language play-by-play broadcasts of New York Yankees. WADO will feature all 162 home and away games, as well as any postseason contests with regular season coverage beginning on April 4.
WCBS has served as the New York Yankees flagship station since 2002. The station produces both the English- and Spanish-language game coverage hosted by veteran broadcasters John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman, and Beto Villa and Francisco Rivera, respectively.
In addition, as part of the new agreement, both stations will partner on a number of on-air and in-stadium promotions, and create additional New York Yankees specialty programs. WADO will serve as the YES Network's audio source for its SAP feed.
WCBS VP/GM Steve Swenson said, "We are thrilled to be able to place the Yankees Spanish play-by-play on such a great heritage radio station as WADO 1280. Beto Villa is the premier Spanish baseball broadcaster in the country and more residents in the tri-state will now hear his great calls."
