For the 9th consecutive year, News/Talk WGAC-AM/Augusta, GA, has been named the Georgia Association of Broadcasters "Radio Station of the Year," in a mid-sized market. The station was recognized at the Association's 2010 annual awards banquet held last month in Atlanta.
The association's "Gabby" awards were awarded to four WGAC staffers, News Director and morning host Mary Liz Nolan won "Best Newscast," Austin Rhodes, host of "The Austin Rhodes Show" won "Personality of the Year," Sports Director Ashley Brown won "Best Sportscast" and "Best Sports Feature" and Production Director Michael Lane was honored for "Best Commercial."
VP/Market Manager Kent Dunn commented, "WGAC has been named station of the year for 9 years in a row. No other station in Georgia can claim that distinction and I think this year's win demonstrates the heritage and legacy of WGAC."
PD Harley Drew added, "When you've got an incredible team like we have here at WGAC, and supportive management, it is easy to accomplish great things. Scoring this award an unprecedented nine times in a row is something we are all proud of and it makes all the hard work and dedication worth it!"
