WRKS-FM (98.7 Kiss FM)/New York morning host D.L. Hughley appears to have left the station. Emmis says he's away on a film project, but Hughley said Monday (8-9) was his last day. Hughley's representatives had threatened to yank the comedian off the air in a pay dispute. Hughley's lawyers claim the Urban AC owes Hughley about $359,000 for his morning show launched in July.
Emmis returned the favor and filed suit against syndicator URBan Radio Communications claiming WRKS was never responsible for paying Hughley, while accusing URBan of breaking his 3-year deal. As a result, WRKS agreed to pay Hughley while it worked out compensation with his syndicator.
