Salem Announces New Talk Outlet in Pittsburgh

Salem Media Group has announced that it will create a new talk station when it completes the acquisition of WDDZ-AM, tentatively scheduled to launch May 13, from Radio Disney. The new station, AM 1250 The Answer, will take on the Answer brand that has been popular on 21 other Salem talkers around the country. Salem will also be bringing Rose Tennent back on the air from 8am-10am, from the popular Quinn and Rose morning show when it was on WPGB-FM for many years.

"Pittsburgh deserves a news/talk station that reflects the conservative, hard-working heart and soul of its people," said Salem general manager Tom Lemmon. "We're thrilled to have an opportunity to provide an intelligent, sensible, conservative voice to the market. We want to be a station that tackles solid local and national issues with an intelligent opinion committed to truth and integrity," added Lemmon.

Salem has been able to assemble some of the top talk talent in the country to join the new lineup, as well as one of the top local stars in Rose Tennent. "This is a great opportunity for me - a chance to do a talk show that fully reflects who I am and what I care about," said Rose. "While I may be providing my own version of Talk Radio -- I will be strong - not strident - where issues that affect our lives on every level are concerned." According to Rose Tennent: "AM 1250 is the ANSWER to the question: where can I go for conservative talk radio in Pittsburgh?"

Salem Senior VP of Spoken Word Formats Phil Boyce said, "We were blessed to have most of the Salem Radio Network talent available to help us, as well as Rose and Mark Levin who are both going to make this station even stronger. We are committed to fulfilling our listener's insatiable appetite for breaking news and information, with hosts who can help them know what to make of it."
