Edison Research Issues Top Podcast Genres for Q3 2022

Edison Research has announced the Top Podcast Genres in the U.S. for Q3 2022, and comedy reigns again as the genre consumed by most weekly podcast listeners. The list ranks the most popular podcast genres based on audience size among weekly podcast listeners age 18+ from Edison Podcast Metrics. The Society & Culture genre moved up one rank to the #2 spot from Q2, pushing News to #3. History moves into the Top 10 at #8, while Religion & Spirituality and Education swap places from Q2 2022.

Podcasts are classified according to the self-identified genre submitted by the podcast to Apple Podcast API. Nineteen genres are identified as having at least one percent reach among those in the U.S. age 18+ for Q3 2022, and the full list is attached.
