KCMP-FM (The Current)/Minneapolis hires Ayisha Jaffer as evening host, beginning April 18. Jaffer joins The Current from WNXP/Nashville, where she served as midday host and Assistant Program Director. Prior to WNXP, she was the afternoon host at WYMS/Milwaukee. Jaffer has also worked in music management in the U.S. and New Zealand with artists including Lorde, Cut Copy and Architecture in Helsinki. While living in New Zealand, she got her start in radio at 95BFM and Aotea FM.

"As a true Midwesterner, joining the team at The Current feels like coming home," said Jaffer. "I am looking forward to being a voice on the air and a friend in your community."

"Music is boundaryless and I believe in using it to drive connections and amplify voices. I am excited to get to know The Current's listeners by sharing experiences, hearing yours and highlighting artists, creators, and dreamers alike. In this role, I hope to add to an already strong platform and pay it forward. Like Mr. Rogers says, let's 'make goodness attractive.'"

"We're so excited to add Ayisha to the team at The Current," added KCMP Program Director Jim McGuinn. "She brings together tremendous energy, knowledge, and a passion for the music, a fascinating background both in radio and around artists -- and even bears -- and a real desire to connect listeners to the music and each other. She can't wait to discover more of the music (and navigable waters) of Minnesota and become part of our community. We're psyched for her to join us at The Current."
