WELY Signs 7-Year Deal to Air Minnesota Vikings Games

WELY (1450 AM/103.9 FM) in Ely, MN, is bringing Minnesota Vikings football back to the Iron Range under a new seven-year agreement that will see the stations carry every Vikings game through the 2031 NFL season. Beginning with the 2025 preseason, WELY will air all Minnesota Vikings games -- including pre-game and post-game shows, preseason matchups, regular season games, and playoff contests. The station's first broadcast under the new deal kicks off on August 9 when the Vikings host the Houston Texans.

The partnership marks a major milestone for WELY, which recently returned to the airwaves after a three-year hiatus. The station was revived earlier this year by Civic Media, which now owns and operates the historic outlets. In addition to broadcasting Oldies music and Minnesota Twins baseball, WELY plans to reintroduce local programming in the near future.

Station Manager Terri Pylka said, "We're beyond excited to bring Vikings football back to WELY-AM! It's been a few years since fans in our area could hear the games locally, and I know the community will be just as fired up as we are for their return. Fans will be able to tune in from shorelines, garages, to fish houses -- wherever Vikings pride runs deep. Locking in the broadcast rights for the next seven years is a total touchdown!"

Listeners can also sign up for the WELY newsletter to receive game-day reminders and post-game recaps.
