DaSilva & Lee Exit Mornings at WWKX-FM in Providence

Cumulus Media downsizes Mike D' DaSilva and Alexus Lee from mornings at Hip Hop WWKX (Hot 106) in Providence, RI. DaSilva's 12-years in radio had been with WWKX, holding mornings since 2016 -- first with Bekha Berger and then Alexus Lee since January. He also handles play-by-play duties for Rhode Island FC games on WWKX and WPRV-AM.

In statements on social media, DaSilva wrote, "Well, there's no easy way to say this... today was my last day at Hot 106. I'm still trying to process it. There's no ill will or anger, just business. In any business, nothing is guaranteed. Right now, I mostly feel sadness. I grew up here, not just in my career but personally too. So much of my life happened while working at Hot 106. Things I dreamed of and cherished, things I shared with our audience along the way. It feels like leaving your childhood home."

Lee wrote, "I wish there was a more elegant way to say this but there isn't so here we go... after 14 beautiful months my time at Hot 106 has come to an end. I never expected to work in radio, and definitely never expected to love it as much as I did but life brought me there. These last 14 months have been some of the most challenging and rewarding of my life and I am fundamentally different as a human for having had them."
