WFMT/Chicago Names John Clare as New Morning Music Host

Classical WFMT-FM in Chicago appoints John Clare as its new morning music host, weekdays from 6-10am, starting January 27. Clare is a recognized figure in classical music broadcasting, having won the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award. His previous stops include Nevada Public Radio, KMFA in Austin, and most recently, Classical Music Indy in Indianapolis and SiriusXM's Symphony Hall.

WFMT Head of Programming and Operations Roger Wight noted Clare's extensive background in classical music, stating, "John is the ideal person for this pivotal role. We are eager to welcome him to our team and look forward to the new dimensions he will bring to our morning programming."

"I am thrilled to join WFMT, a station renowned for its stellar classical music offerings. Sharing music and enriching people's lives through it is not just my job but my passion and life's work," commented Clare. At WFMT, he aims to continue the station's tradition of excellence and innovation in classical music radio. His responsibilities will include producing new broadcast and digital content, hosting live specials, and participating in community engagement initiatives.

Clare will work under the guidance of WFMT Lead and midday host Lisa Flynn, beginning his tenure later this month.
