After more than nine years as co-hosts of WGTS/Washington DC's afternoon show, Johnny and Stacey Stone have signed off for the final time. The husband-and-wife duo wrapped up their weekday 3-7pm program on Friday, August 8, marking the end of a combined 86 years in broadcasting -- 53 for Johnny and 33 for Stacey.

Their final day at the station was marked with a celebration organized by the WGTS staff, who shared memories and invited special guests to join the farewell broadcast. Among them was Christian Music Broadcasters Executive Director Michelle Younkman, who has known the Stones for nearly three decades. "They have always been champions for the radio community. They have impacted so many lives. We are all better because of the Stones," Younkman said.

WGTS President and CEO Kevin Krueger expressed gratitude for the pair's service. "I believe strongly in the value of a team that is close and works hard together. This closeness can make departures and retirements difficult, but we recognize in those moments just how special and valuable it is to have co-workers we enjoy being around," Krueger said. "We wish Johnny and Stacey well in their next season."

Stacey reflected on their time on the air together in Washington, DC, calling it a "spectacular way to say goodbye" and praising WGTS as "a family" that knows how to honor its own.

WGTS is now searching for a new team to take over the station's afternoon slot.
