iHeartMedia Omaha has announced that longtime NewsRadio 1110 KFAB personality Gary Sadlemyer will retire from his daily morning show and full-time radio duties, effective Friday, December 12. Sadlemyer has been a fixture at the Omaha heritage station since December, 1976, marking nearly 50 years on the air.

A member of the Nebraska Broadcasting Association Hall of Fame since 2011, Sadlemyer has anchored KFAB's Morning News for more than three decades and was the first to host a live, daily talk show in the station's century-long history. He also served as Program Director and was a familiar voice to Nebraska football fans through his work on the Husker broadcasts from 1980 to 1995.

"Time sure flies when you're havin' fun," said Sadlemyer. "Since I was a kid growing up in Minnesota, I had a passion for radio. It's just like anything else, kids who dream about being a doctor or whatever; mine was radio."

Sadlemyer's longtime on-air partners Jim Rose and Lucy Chapman will continue as part of KFAB's morning lineup. Scott Voorhees, the station's current Program Director and mid-morning talk host, will join the morning team alongside KFAB News anchor Craig Evans.

"I'm excited to join the morning team to continue to make KFAB Omaha's well-informed, trusted friend with whom you laugh, cry, and get through the day together," said Voorhees. "These are the ideals that Gary embodies better than anyone."

Although stepping away from his full-time role, Sadlemyer will remain a presence on KFAB-creating personalized content for advertisers and occasionally returning to guest host or join the morning show.
