WYPR (88.1) Baltimore's longtime "Midday" host Tom Hall will step down from his daily hosting duties in early 2026, transitioning into a newly created role as the station's Senior News Analyst. Hall will continue to provide interviews, reporting, and analysis across Baltimore Public Media's news and public affairs platforms.
Hall joined WYPR in 2003 and quickly became one of the station's most familiar and trusted voices. Over more than 20 years, he helped shape "Midday" into one of Maryland's leading public affairs programs, known for its conversations and community-focused journalism. Under his leadership, the show earned a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award in 2020.
As part of the transition, Hall will move to a three-day hosting schedule (Tuesday-Thursday) beginning in January 2026 while WYPR searches for the program's next full-time host. Once the successor is selected, he will fully shift into his new analyst role, contributing interviews, features, essays, and leading special projects.
"It has been my honor and privilege to host Midday for the past 10 years, to be the steward of this storied show, and to be in conversation with a great community of engaged listeners who share an interest in exploring new ideas and solutions to the challenges we face," Hall said.
