KOLA 99.9 Riverside-San Bernardino announced that longtime air personality Victor "Vic Slick" Corral will retire on Friday, December 12 concluding a 31-year run with the station. His final afternoon show will air from 2-7pm, closing out a career that has made him one of the Inland Empire's most recognizable radio voices.
Slick joined KOLA in 1994 as a nighttime host and later moved into mornings before settling into his longtime home in afternoon drive. In addition to his on-air work, he became known as the signature "Voice of the Rendezvous," serving for years as announcer for San Bernardino's iconic Route 66 Rendezvous car show.
"Ever since I was 8, I've wanted to be on the radio," Vic said. Growing up in Colton, he listened to KMEN, KFXM, KRLA, and KHJ, inspired by legends like Wolfman Jack, Casey Kasem, and The Real Don Steele. "Working on the radio where I grew up? Totally a dream come true. And combining my radio career with my love of classic car shows? Can't get any better than that. The Inland Empire has been amazing to me, and I'm so thankful."
Program Director Gary Springfield praised Slick's decades of service. "Vic has spent thirty-one incredible years doing what he does best, connecting with listeners in the Inland Empire. He is the best of all of what KOLA represents to the community. His impact is immeasurable, and his presence will be deeply missed by our team and our listeners."
