Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels and a longtime New York radio personality, will serve as guest host for Mark Simone on iHeartMedia New York's 710 WOR from December 22 through January 2. The appearance marks Sliwa's first on-air role since his recent New York City mayoral campaign. During the holiday run, he will host Simone's program while Simone is away.
Sliwa said he welcomed the opportunity to fill in, noting his long professional history with Simone and praising his connections across the city's political and civic landscape.
710 WOR Program Director Tom Cuddy described Sliwa as a distinctive voice in New York talk radio, citing his experience, familiarity with the city, and ability to engage listeners as reasons for bringing him to the station during the holiday period.
Sliwa also reflected on his history with WOR, noting that his radio career began in 1971 with an appearance on Arlene Francis' show on the station. He said returning to WOR as a host represents a full-circle moment after more than three decades in talk radio.
