Chaz & AJ Return to Long Island on 94.3 The Shark

Connoisseur Media has announced that the Chaz and AJ Show will expand its reach and return to Long Island mornings on WWSK (94.3 The Shark) beginning Monday, March 9. The move reunites the long-running rock morning show with the market where the partnership first began, while the program continues its established run on heritage rocker 99.1 WPLR in New Haven.

Chaz and AJ first built a following on Long Island before relocating across Long Island Sound in 2003 to host mornings at WPLR. Since then, the show has become one of the most recognized programs in rock radio.

"The Chaz and AJ show began on Long Island and it just makes perfect sense to have them return home," said Keith Dakin, SVP of Programming for Connoisseur Media. "The show has always been for and about the listeners, and now we get to add a whole bunch more to the party."

For AJ, the return is especially personal. Born in Huntington, NY, he grew up listening to Long Island radio and WPLR. He interned at WBAB, worked at WMJC -- now 94.3 The Shark -- and later hosted mornings at WRCN, where he first met Chaz.

In January 1996, Chaz joined WRCN, replacing AJ in morning drive. The following year, Chaz invited AJ to join him, launching a partnership that has lasted nearly three decades. The duo hosted mornings on WRCN from 1997 to 2003 before moving to WPLR in New Haven.

"We are thrilled to get back to our roots on Long Island," Chaz and AJ said in a joint statement. "Now we'll wake up audiences on The Shark and on WPLR in New Haven -- it truly feels like the best of both worlds."

The Chaz and AJ Show has developed a loyal audience over the years, including a dedicated fan community known as "The Tribe." With the addition of Long Island mornings, the show is expected to expand that listener base across both Connecticut and New York.

The team has received numerous honors during its run, including the Marconi Award for Best Morning Show, multiple community service awards, and recognition as one of the Top 5 Rock Morning Shows in the United States.

As part of the announcement, Chaz has also signed a new five-year agreement with Connoisseur Media, reinforcing the company's commitment to the program's continued growth.
